A curriculum is what we teach in each grade level and every subject.  The Oregon Department of Education, ODE, has adopted standards for every course of study and grade level taught in Oregon schools.  Those standards are our curriculum, or scope and sequence of what we teach in Seaside.  


HQIM are the actual textbooks or programs we use to teach the standards that make up our curriculum.  ODE requires that school districts update their instructional materials every seven years. We follow ODE’s recommended adoption cycles and select materials that have been approved by ODE.  Learn more about ODE requirements here.
